Thank you for visiting my website after receiving my letter.

I understand that receiving an unexpected letter from someone you do not know may feel unusual. If my letter caused you any discomfort, I sincerely apologize. I wanted to reach out first because I do not want to photograph someone or their home without introducing myself and asking for permission.

A Mean Distance is a relatively new project that is still slowly taking shape. I think of it almost like a newborn project—something that is still growing, changing, and finding its own form. I am approaching it from different directions and experimenting with various ways of photographing.

At its core, the project looks at distance between people: the distance between family members, neighbors, friends, strangers, and between ourselves and the spaces we consider private. I am interested in the ways we create boundaries, protect ourselves, invite others closer, or keep them at a certain distance.

For some photographs, I am interested in photographing a home from outside while someone is present inside. You would not need to show your face, pose clearly, or invite me into your home. A small figure, a silhouette, or even a subtle sign of someone being present may be enough. If you are comfortable being photographed more directly, that is also something we can discuss together.

Participation is completely voluntary. You are always welcome to ask questions, suggest what you are or are not comfortable with, or simply decline. If you are not interested, you do not need to respond to my letter.

The photographs may eventually become part of my ongoing artistic work and could be shown in school critiques, exhibitions, my portfolio, website, or future publications. I would also be happy to share the resulting photographs with anyone who participates.

Thank you again for taking the time to read about the project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
